This is an extreme example of a heavily soiled carpet with many spots and significant wear in the traffic areas. Most people would think that the only solution would be to tear it out and install a new carpet.
Our first step is to apply a pre-conditioning spray to the carpet to jump start the cleaning process. It is safe for kids, pets and the enviroment and is formulated on-site specifically for each customers carpet and needs. Under normal circumstances, the next step would be to finish the cleaning process by using the rotary jet extractor attached to our powerful mobile cleaning plant. More heavily soiled carpets like this one, can benefit from the optional use of the pile lifter. The pile lifter will lift and separate the pile and work the pre-spray into each strand of the carpet fiber, releasing the ground-in soil and bringing it to the surface, emulsified and suspended and ready to be rinsed out. At this stage it's not uncommon for the customer to think the carpet is clean. Although with this one, it's doubtful anyone would make that mistake.
Half this carpet has been pile lifted.

Next, we thoroughly rinse the pre-sprayed cleaning solution and soil out of the carpet using a truck mounted hot water extraction system with our rotary cleaning tools attached. We use just clear, very hot water to finish the cleaning process and your carpets are dry in about an hour.
Some spots are not water soluable and don't come out in the cleaning process ie, tar, rust, gum, etc. so we spot clean them with the appropriate cleaners.
Finally, we groom the carpet and use a scrub wand to clean edges, steps, corners, closets, behind doors and every place that the round rotary tools don't reach.
The scrub wand is the cleaning tool that most companies use for all cleaning. It works well but it has it's limits. We use it for edges, corners and tight spaces that can't be reached with the round RX20.
The scrub wand
The rotary cleaning tool has 5 mini scrub wands underneath. It spins as it goes over the carpet. It hits all sides of the carpet fiber making 650 cleaning passes per minute. Can you imagine what a technician would look like trying to push the scrub wand back and forth 600 times a minute? You don't have to wish they would make a few more passes over the carpet to make sure it's clean, the rotary head has already done that. Plus, it leaves behind very little moisture and the carpets dry in an hour or two.
